Run equipment (race shoes, training shoes, socks, insoles)

The simple RunEquipment model and what to log for each item type.

The model

The RunEquipment record is the run-side analogue of SwimEquipment. It is a simple inventory of the athlete's run gear, with brand, model, size, notes, and a primary flag.

Coach side: edit at /coach/run-equipment/<id>/edit/ or create at /coach/run-equipment/new/.

Athlete side: /my-equipment/ shows the full run inventory.

Fields per item

What to put in notes

For shoes specifically, notes is where the useful detail lives:

The Hub does not track shoe mileage automatically. If mileage tracking matters, the Notes field is where you keep the running tally.

Race shoe vs training shoe

Worth keeping separate rows so the right shoe is on the right race. The race shoe is typically:

The training shoe is everyday use and there can be more than one in rotation. If so, log each as a separate row.

Insoles

Log insoles as their own row if the athlete uses custom orthotics or a specific aftermarket insole. The shoe and the insole are paired but tracked separately because insoles often outlast a pair of shoes.
