How coach grants work, what they unlock, and the rebate impact.
A coach grant is one of three ways an athlete on your roster can become premium. The other two are:
$49/yr from /settings/billing/).
This is the most common path. You do not need to do anything,
and switching coaches later does not change it.A coach grant is when you comp an athlete at no extra cost to
them: it is included in your coach plan. The athlete tier changes
from athlete to premium_athlete and they see the full
calculator catalog, race plan tools (the planning wizard), and deeper analytics.
Use this when the athlete would not otherwise pay for premium and
you want them to have it.
/coach/athlete/<id>/edit/).The change is immediate. The athlete will see new features on next page load.
Your coach plan includes unlimited grants. The catch is that rebates kick in at a threshold (currently 7 premium athletes), giving you $50 per year back for each premium athlete starting with the 7th. At 12+ premium athletes, rebates cover your plan completely. See Billing and subscription.
They see all premium features unlocked. They do not see a "your coach granted this" banner; the experience matches a paid premium athlete.
If an athlete has both a coach grant and a direct payment, the direct payment takes precedence in the billing source field. If your grant ends, their direct payment keeps them on premium.
Grant premium when the athlete will use the calculator and race day brief features. Hold off on grants for athletes who do not race or who only need basic logging, since each grant counts toward your rebate threshold.
